Why not try out the new search engine www.cuil.com ... and see what it delivers for your (favorite) terms corrosion monitoring and corrosion.

A good, solid technical definition can be useful (or even crucial) in corrosion matters ... but is not always easy to find.

You can now stop searching "high and low" for the definition of a pit gauge (pit gage), since Mark Palynchuk of Western Instruments Inc. has kindly provided the following:

"Pit Gauge or US Pit Gage n. A device to measure the depth of Corrosion (Rust). A Pit Gauge can take various forms, in the most basic as a simple Lever and Pointer or more accurate units using a Dial or Digital Indicator to provide the measurement displacement. Pit Depth Gauge, Depth Gauge, Bridging Bar."
